"Overdrive" referred to a special gearbox—not some ’70s Psychedelic Rock band from Sweden.

This car is for sale. 1984 Volvo 242 DL with 220,000 miles. $6500 Firm, in the Portland metropolitan area, Oregon.

Comes on Eiker E1 (Volvo Polaris replica rims) with fresh tires. Meticulously maintained in its life, 2nd owner.  Car runs great, with no major or minor issues.

The B23 (2.3 liter displacement) engine has a Volvo “B” cam shaft in it. Other than that, all engine mechanicals are original. Does not leak a single fluid. Manual M46 4 speed transmission, with an electronic overdrive (5th) gear. Transmission shifts smooth, and clutch is very solid.

Currently, it sits on coilovers in the front with Koni Gas-Adjust struts, and Bilstein short shocks and cut coils in the rear. IPD 25/23 sway bars for front and back respectively. Clean paint, clean interior, with the dash having only one medium crack. No tears in the seats. Comes with 4 VDO gauges, which provide vital engine operations information. Red LED lighting on the inside provides a less strenuous lighting environment when driving at night. Up front, 2 rare Bosch yellow fog lamps provide more lighting when needed.

Kenwood Excelon deck (compatible with usb, cd, etc) with kicker speakers up front, Kicker DS 16X9 speakers in the rear, and kicker subs in the rear, powered by a kenwood amplifier. Sounds incredible.

New wiring harness and upgraded alternator keeps the car powered. An electric fan keeps the engine nice and cool when running.

Again, everything works on this car, and it has been maintained very well. Contact me (Links<ask me about anything) to get Josh’s number for this Volvo 242.
